5/28/23 – Does Jesus Hate Pigs?

Join us for Pentecost Sunday & Memorial Day weekend! On Sunday, May 28th we welcome back Rev. Dr. Glenn Kreider from Dallas Theological Seminary to bring the message from Mark 5:1-20 during our 10:30 AM Worship Service. “Does Jesus Hate Pigs?” This story in the bible tells of a time when Jesus called out demons from a possessed man. What happened to the man? How did bystanders respond? What story did they tell? Why would Jesus tell the man to go tell his story – all that was done for him? Come out Sunday and hear how this story can apply to our lives. Let’s see what Dr. Kreider has to share with us from this story in scripture!

Prior to teaching at DTS, Dr. Kreider served as Director of Christian Education and then as Senior Pastor in Cedar Hill, TX. His research and writing interests include theological method, theology and popular culture, and our eschatological hope. Dr. Kreider believes that grace really is amazing; it is a thought that will change the world. He is married to his best friend, Janice, and they have two grown children and one granddaughter, Marlo Grace. He and Janice enjoy live music, good stories, bold coffee, and spending time together and with their rescue dogs—a terrier/greyhound mix named Chloe and a black lab named Carlile.

In honor of Memorial Day, our youth will have a special Children’s Message and Jennifer has prepared a video to open our service. We are also pleased to welcome the group of theology professors and pastors who have come from the Evangelical Christian Church of Minhasa, Gereja Masehi Injili di Minahasa (GMIM). GMIM is a large denomination in North Sulawesi, Indonesia, with around 850,000 members and 1,100 congregations. Dallas International University has set up a 2-month Cultural & Missiological Immersion program in order to help them improve their English language skills and get training in linguistics, biblical languages, scripture engagement, and using the arts in mission. It’s an honor for us to worship together with some of our brothers and sisters from Indonesia.

After worship, we have Lemonade on the Lawn for greeting one another in a time of fellowship.

The office will be closed on Monday, May 29 in honor of Memorial Day.

See you Sunday!
