Why Does God Want Us to Pray?

Scripture: 1 Samuel 1:1-20

Have you heard the saying, “Worry is like praying for what you don’t want.” That makes one think. Wait a minute — am I giving energy to what I don’t want? What if I gave energy to what I do want? That’s prayer. Here’s another one. “When life gives you more than you can stand . . . kneel.” (beliefnet.com/prayerables)

 

We turn to the story of Hannah, mother of the prophet Samuel. He would need a mother of great faith, and God certainly gave him the best. But it started out rough, with great pain and worry. She overcame her pain through prayer. She not only overcame but triumphed.
