Often when we think of the Holy Spirit, the concept seems like a mystery. This is not new. In the 4th Century, two councils were called to explain the Holy Spirit. The creed called the Nicene Creed has been used ever since by the vast majority of Christians.
The church was young and vibrant at that time–just after Constantine had eliminated persecution and began, along with his mother, to build churches. Debates took place in the public square about religious questions. People were comfortable with following the Holy Spirit, being more open to the spiritual realm. Sunday, during worship, we will talk about how the Holy Spirit guides us in our daily lives and our efforts to live out our faith.
