Many crowds followed Jesus. They were impressed by his words of wisdom. They were impressed because he did miracles and cast out demons. He could stand his own. He could take on the “big guys.” But what did it mean to be a follower of the Lord? What does it mean today? Jesus said that we can fool ourselves into thinking we are following. But, if we are not careful and focus on the wrong things, they will not hold firm. So we must make some tough decisions. We must get down to the real deal. That’s our subject matter for this Sunday.
