Happy New Year! . . .Have you broken your New Year’s Resolutions yet?
I went to the gym; there were lots of cars in the parking lot, but not so many people in exercise class. They seemed to be gathered around the coffee bar. Halfway through class someone cried, “Donuts!” We all yelled, “Yea!” It’s so easy to relinquish responsibility; so hard to keep it. How are you doing with that?
New Year’s resolutions are helpful for spiritual matters, too. Perhaps David wrote Psalm 103 at the start of a New Year. “Bless the Lord, O my soul! Forget none of his benefits!” We must remind ourselves of this in order to keep the faith in 2017; in order to stay connected to the Lord and be able to say why we believe. This day in early January we resolve to do just that throughout the year. Would you like support in renewing your spiritual responsibility? Come join the folks at First Presbyterian. This week we welcome guest Choir Director Sheila Baker. We celebrate Communion in 10:30 Worship. We attend Sunday School at 9:15, from all ages and stages of Spiritual Growth. What New Years resolution have you made about your spiritual life? See you Sunday!
