Letter from Help to Heal about Gifts for Seniors:
Christmas is traditionally when families come together. Although it’s a magical time for children, it’s important to remember the well-being of older members of your family and neighbors during the holiday period, too.
Sadly, over 500,000 older people will spend Christmas alone this year, not only struggling to cope with escalating heating costs, but also by the absence of human company. Isolation and loneliness is the reality of many older people year round, too, not just at Christmas. Many seniors are living isolated and lonely lives, while many others feel trapped in their own homes. One in five older people see other people less than once a week.
Whether you’ll be welcoming an older relative to spend time wiht you this year or sending Christmas wishes to your senior loved ones, Help to Heal suggests considering donating to “Gifts for Seniors” to ensure it’s a happy, healthy time for everyone. Please consider sponsoring a senior so they may have a Merry Christmas, too!
Thank You and have a Merry Christmas!
