Nyadia Thorpe is very happy to work with the singers at FPCD in the Ministry of Music! She joined the leadership team in January of 2015 and is also the conductor of the Duncanville Community Chorus hosted here at FPCD.
When not at church, she remains busy in music as the Region 20 Middle School Vocal Chair-Elect and will serve as the coordinator of the region’s middle school vocal division contests and events for the next few years. She is the director of choirs at Frank Seale Middle School in Midlothian ISD and has founded a music and arts non-profit program called Inspire Singing and Arts. Her previous assignments have been in Duncanville ISD at Byrd Middle School and in Dallas ISD at Lang Middle School. At seasonal times in the year, she also maintains a small private voice and piano studio. Nyadia enjoys coaching her students to reach their full potential and to continue to strive for excellence. She earned her Bachelors in Music Education in 2007 and her Masters in Music Education with a ton of elective hours in Choral Conducting in 2012. She is an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association and the American Choral Directors Association. In undergrad, she held offices of Treasurer and President of the UTA chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota.
She is married to Min. Jeff Thorpe. Together they have a little boy – Caden and a big boy, Vincent. In their spare time they enjoy traveling, tasting new foods, watching movies and reading. Simply put – they love spending time with their family!
