8/28/16 – Community in Unity 5 – The Blessed Ones

Each fourth Sunday the youth are “in charge of” the service. The music reflects their style. They tell, act out, or use a video to convey the Scripture. They do everything but preach! It’s fun. It’s youthful. It’s inviting. They are growing in confidence as they stand in front of an audience and use their gifts.

This week their story is about conflict between two peoples who did not like each other. It goes like this:  A king feels threatened by the size of a neighboring nation. He hires a prophet to curse them. Curses in those days had power–it was the best move to defeat your enemy. But in this case, the king found that his enemy had a very great asset: THE LORD! Come hear how that king got more than he bargained for when God turned that curse into a blessing.

Do you have an enemy you fear? Perhaps you feel like cursing him. But you might find that when you are focused on blessing, God’s power is unleashed. Let’s talk about it! Sunday school at 9:15.  Worship at 10:30. I can’t wait to see you!

9/23/12 – Donation Drive Sunday

9/23/12 – Donation Drive Sunday from Duncanville Presbyterian on Vimeo.

Approximately ten percent of Americans live below the poverty line. Sometimes job loss or an illness causes it. Others suffer chronic poverty. Duncanville Outreach Ministry and Austin Street Shelter provide support, such as temporary housing, food, help with utilities, rent, and other financial needs.

Sunday, September 23, FPCD kicks off a Donation Drive for these organizations. During 10:30 worship, TOM HARMON shares about both charities and how you can make a difference. When you donate, your name will be entered in a drawing for special prizes. Please place your items in a bin in the sanctuary entryway.

Tax deductible financial donations can be made through FPCD. Mark “DOM or “Austin Street” in the memo of your check. Along with monetary donations, you can also provide the following:

Duncanville Outreach: all non-perishable food items, household items, toiletries, clothing, books, CD’s, DVD’s, baby items. Austin Street: Men’s shoes (over size 10), disposable razors, toothbrushes, backpacks, lightweight blankets, Lysol spray, Kleenex, toothpaste, gently used rolling luggage, rolling duffel bags, and bar soap.

Then join SUNDAY’S SERVICE, which will be about the “how to’s” of marriage. How do men and women get along? What does it mean to love one another; respect one another? How do we accomplish these things in 2012? God has so many wonderful (and practical) ideas in the Bible to help you succeed. We talk about them at 10:30. Join us and be strengthened. The choir sings Brandon Heath’s LOVE NEVER FAILS. See you there!
