5/21/17 – Thessalonica: The Church IN God

Just how active do you believe God is in the world? To what length does his providence go? The concept of providence is a fully packed one–does it mean God controls everything, including you? Is this a general term or specific? How much latitude do you have? For the next few weeks we enter into an ancient city where a new church started with a multicultural group of people with little faith background who had lots of questions.

That ancient city still exists today, and the letter written to them is still amazingly relevant to us. So come along for the ride! Bring your questions. Sunday School begins at 9:15 and worship at 10:30. Afterwards the entire church shares a potluck. So bring something to share. I can’t wait to see you!

5/14/17 – The Child Inside

Happy Mother’s Day! We hope that along with all the flowers and meals and fun you may have planned on Sunday to celebrate your mom (or be celebrated by your kids!) you will take the time to come and worship God here at First Presbyterian Church.

This Sunday, hear a message from Rev. Chris Campbell, Associate Pastor for Missional Discipleship at the First Presbyterian Church in Arlington. Chris is a graduate of Austin College and Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary and has been part of the area Mission Affinity Group with Pastor Ginger for several years.

He will be sharing a message called “The Child Inside” on Mark 10:13-16, where Jesus declares that we must enter the Kingdom of Heaven as a little child. Come join us and be blessed!

5/7/17 – Focusing on the Main Thing

Can you imagine how it must have felt for Jesus to have been resurrected? Can you imagine what it must have felt like to walk around those familiar places where he had lived, taught, worked, and engaged with others? Can you imagine what it was like to eat a fish, show your scars, cook for your friends, and help them understand that all those Old Testament prophesies had come true? That’s what he talked about. That’s what he did.

That’s not all.

Jesus also gave us a job to do. The job is for every believer, and the job has major rewards. There’s cost, too–but everything worthwhile has costs. Let’s talk about it Sunday. Worship service with communion at 10:30. Sunday School beforehand at 9:15 for all ages and stages of faith. I can’t wait to see you!
