12/3/17 – First Week of Advent

As I typed “First Week of Advent,” I wondered if people not familiar with the church seasons would know what it means.  Remember the scene in “The Polar Express” when at the north pole Santa shouts out, “the first gift of Christmas!” That gift was a bell. It symbolized the Spirit of Christmas. Advent is also the spirit which lies in your heart; which believes; which anticipates the coming of the Greatest Gift. Thus this week begins the expectation for the most special Gift.

Many celebrations go on during the four weeks of Advent. The Children’s Pageant – December 10, at 10:30 a.m. December 17 at 6:00 p.m. – HANDEL’S MESSIAH. December 24, Christmas Eve – 10:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The celebration is great because the Gift is the Greatest One of All! Oh yes, Sunday School begins at 9:15 for all ages and stages of faith. I can’t wait to see you!
